It’s going to be a cool photowalk!

I’m signed up for this photowalk:

Portland, OR United States | Worldwide Photo Walk.

Here’s the description:

Join Laurie Excell (www.laurieexcell.com/blog) & Sharon O’Keefe (www.pnwcp.com) as we explore Oaks Park Amusement Park before hours! We will be allowed to enter the park early as they go about starting and testing the rides. There will be all kinds of photo opportunities working with stop action, blur motion, graphics, colors, people (fellow PhotoWalkers) and more. WE will meet at the Main Entrance at 5:30AM for a group portrait and then off we go throughout the park to explore and photograph until 8:00AM when we will meet at a pre-determined location where we can enjoy coffee and donuts while everyone shares their experiences of the morning and gets better acquainted.

How fun is it going to be to take photos in an amusement park before it opens? Imagine the possibilities!

I’ve been elected as STC Secretary for 2010 – 2012!

By a margin of 42 votes, I become the STC Secretary for 2010 – 2012 on Monday, 3 May, 2010 at the Annual Business Meeting in Dallas, TX.

(See full election results here: 2010 Election Results)

And STC’s Notebook blog has the results: And the STC Election Winners Are…

I appreciate your faith and confidence in me, and will do my very best to live up to the blueprint that Char James-Tanny leaves behind.

Now comes the “meshing” of schedules for the conference. Remember, I’m still the Program Chair for the 2010 conference, so I’ve got those responsibilities to handle as well. You’d be amazed at all the events that the Board members must attend. All I can say is that it is a very good thing that I was already planning on attending a good portion of those events in my capacity as Program Chair.

If you’re heading to Dallas for the 2010 STC Tech Comm Summit, you’ll either find me at the Program Information booth, or running around to the next Board event. Hope to see you there!

March 2010 article in STC’s Intercom magazine

Just prior to getting and starting my current contract employment, I was asked to write an article about my experience dealing with a long-term layoff.

My article, titled “Making Lemonade from a Layoff,” was published in the March 2010 issue of Intercom, the STC magazine for technical communicators.

You can read it here, it’s available as a free article in the “Feature Article” section:
